SSI Basic Diver (Bali) Topics

The physical principles of scuba diving
The effects of diving on the human body

Diving can have both positive and negative effects on the human body. The positive effects include improved cardiovascular health and increased muscle strength. The negative effects can include decompression sickness and increased risk of injury.

Diving can have a positive effect on cardiovascular health by reducing blood pressure and improving blood circulation. The increased muscle strength that comes from diving can help to prevent injuries. However, diving can also lead to decompression sickness, which can be fatal, and it can increase the risk of injuries.

Diving safety procedures

Diving safety procedures are essential to scuba diving. They help to ensure that divers are safe while underwater and that they do not put themselves or others at risk. There are many different safety procedures that divers can follow, but some of the most important include using dive checklists, maintaining communication with other divers and surface support, and being aware of your surroundings.

Dive checklists help divers to remember all of the safety procedures that they need to follow before and during a dive. They can also be used to help plan a dive and to check that all of the equipment is in good working order. Communication with other divers and surface support is essential in case of an emergency. It is also important to be aware of your surroundings when diving, as there may be hazards that you are not aware of.

Diving emergency procedures

Diving emergency procedures are a set of protocol to be followed in the event of an emergency while diving. It is important for divers to be familiar with these procedures, as they can mean the difference between life and death.

The most common diving emergency is an out-of-air situation, where the diver has used up all the air in their scuba tank and is in danger of running out of breath. If this happens, the diver must signal to their diving partner that they are out of air, and then the partner will give them their own air supply. If the diver is still unable to breathe, they may need to ascend to the surface to get more air.

Other common diving emergencies include entrapment (getting stuck underwater), equipment failure, and decompression sickness. In each of these cases, the diver must signal for help and then follow their partner’s instructions. If possible, the diver should try to stay calm and avoid panicking, as this can make the situation worse.

The underwater environment

The underwater environment is one of the most fascinating and unique places on earth. It is also one of the most dangerous, and scuba diving is one of the only ways to safely explore it. The SSI Basic Diver scuba diving course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge you need to safely and confidently explore the underwater world.
