During the first two days of the course, instructors will learn about the SSI Extended Range training program, SSI’s dive planning procedures, and the use of dive computers and decompression software. They will also review the physics and physiology of diving, dive emergencies, and gas management. In the pool, instructors will practice extended range diving techniques, including gas switching and sharing, and the use of decompression software.

On the final two days of the course, instructors will conduct four training dives in the open water, to depths of up to 130ft/40m. These dives will allow instructors to practice extended range diving techniques, as well as demonstrate their ability to teach these skills to students.
