SSI Freediving Level II (Bali) Topics

Understanding the physics of freediving
Mastering breath-holding techniques

The main goal of SSI Level II Freediving is to help divers master breath-holding techniques. This is done through a series of exercises and drills that gradually increase in difficulty. The course also covers topics such as finning techniques, safety, and rescue. By the end of the course, students should be able to hold their breath for over two minutes and dive to depths between 20-30metres.

Improving lung capacity

One way to improve your lung capacity is to practice breathing exercises. A good breathing exercise to try is the 4-7-8 breath. To do this breath, inhale for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 7, and then exhale for a count of 8. This breath can help to relax your body and improve your lung capacity.

Understanding the physiology of freediving

The human body is capable of amazing feats of endurance and strength, and freediving is a great way to tap into that potential. In order to freedive safely and effectively, it is important to have a basic understanding of the physiology of freediving.

The respiratory system is one of the most important systems for freediving. The lungs are responsible for exchanging oxygen and carbon dioxide between the body and the outside world. When we breathe, we take in oxygen-rich air and exhale carbon dioxide. The oxygen is then used by the body to produce energy.

During freediving, we hold our breath for extended periods of time. This means that the body has to find a way to optimize oxygen and avoid Carbon Dioxide built-up and use it more efficiently. The body does this by slowing down the heart rate and redirecting blood flow to the brain and other vital organs.

The muscles also play an important role in freediving. They use oxygen to produce energy, and they also help to pump blood around the body.

Freediving also puts a lot of focus on the mind and body, and it is important to be aware of the signs of stress and exhaustion. These can include dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps, and blackouts.
